Katadyn (not Katahdin) water filters are known worldwide as the best available. They use a ceramic filter element with a pore size of only 0.2 micron (0.0002mm or 0.000008"). This ensures 100% removal of bacteria, protozoa, and cysts, including giardia, cryptosporidium, cholera, shigella, salmonella, E.coli, etc. Because of the extremely long life of the ceramic element, Katadyn filters produce safe drinking water at a tiny fraction of the cost per gallon of most other filters.

The Katadyn Combi Filter has an activated carbon stage in addition to the 0.2 micron ceramic element, for effectiveness against chemicals, tastes & odors, as well as pathogens. It's your best option if you want the most versatile filter. Ceramic element life up to 13,000 gallons; carbon life 60 gallons (carbon stage can be removed when not needed to extend its life). Optional Plus Adapter lets you use it attached to a faucet, then quickly & easily detach it for use in the field. Includes 2 packets of activated carbon granulate, zipper stuff sack, cleaning pad, and bottle adapter. Output approx. 1 qt. per minute, size 2.4" x 10.4", weight approx. 22 oz. One year manufacturer's warranty.

Constructed of extremely durable polymer with stainless steel pump mechanism. Some assume the Katadyn Pocket Filter is more durable than the Combi because more metal is used in its construction. That may be true, but we've sold many hundreds of Combis, and the only one we've ever seen broken is one UPS drove a truck over. We use Combi's ourselves because of the carbon capability.

The Combi connects directly to PET, Sigg, and Nalgene bottles, the latter two via the included bottle adapter. It also works very well with ordinary soft drink bottles, and of course the output can be easily directed into a cup or other container.

Katadyn water filters have an extensive worldwide testing history, which you can see here.
